Introduction
In this week's article, I share a video about a simple GenStart module that allows you to remotely start and stop a regular Honda generator. By simply touching two wires together, the generator starts, and when you release them, the generator stops.
This makes it easy to install a basic switch inside your home, cabin, or RV, giving you the convenience of starting your generator remotely without stepping outside. The module uses a dry contact connection, meaning there's little or no voltage present, which also makes it very simple to control through a relay.
Devices like this are fantastic for the off-grid world, especially during dark winter months when you may need to start your generator to charge your batteries. With a GenStart module, all it takes is a simple flick of a switch.
If you have an inverter or other device with a built-in relay, you can also automate starting your generator based on certain conditions, like low battery voltage or a low state of charge (SOC).
